Sunstorm got rereleased last year and it gave TF fans the chance to get this iconic figure for a good price. I only say iconic because he's been made out to be quite a significant character in the TF universe, even though he's just a brief fabrication by the now defunct Dreamwave. I could still remember trying to beg one of my friends to sell me his extra E-Hobby Sunstorm for $100… knowing that I'd even pay $150. Well now I got him for $60 shipped so that's that.

Sunstorm comes with small comic & extra stickers this time around, plus his box has the "Collector's Edition" sign on the top left of the box (vs. top right). As with most reissues of G1 figures, Sunstorm has many of his decos painted. I would prefer Takara paint all the decos instead of making half of them into stickers though. I mean seriously, who still uses stickers on a toy (err… Yamato and Bandai)? The toy's quality is the same as all the toys from the Encore series; meaning they're not as great as the original toys from the 80s. Still, the new paint decos are a huge improvement over the old stickers. Sunstorm's Decepticon insignias are also backwards vs. those of G1 seekers. All the new toys have them this way and it's actually the correct way (flows with the direction of the jet).

I lost my infatuation with this figure years ago; the reason why I got Sunstorm wasn't because of the hype behind the character but because I really like his vibrant colors. I don't apply stickers onto my toys so Sunstorm would look even better when they are stuck on. If you can spare the extra cash for a toy whose character is no longer in the limelight then by all means pick Sunstorm up for cheap. He's also a good excuse to add another G1 seeker to your collection. I'm giving this toy an 8.5/10 (Great).
